It was in Kansas City, Missouri that a treachorous event took place on Saturday, December 1st. His name is Jovan Belcher and he was e linebacker for Kansas City Chiefs football team. The linebacker murdered his girlfriend by
shooting her multiple times and she was only 22 years old. He then drove to the stadium that the Chiefs play ball at, Arrowhead Stadium, to then further
fatally shoot himself in front of the head coach and the general manager. Really, nothing has been found why and what motivated a young man such as himself to do such a deed. The only thing that somewhat gives a reason is that he and his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins had been fighting. The worst part of all of this is that his
murder/suicide left behind a 3-month-old child.
The shooting happened in the parking lot of the stadium where the team would normally practice. Belcher actually Thanked them, both the coach and manager before he shot himself. The hardest part for all the other team members is not only losing the linebacker, but they had to continue to play the Carolina Panthers the next day. They went through with the game and actually won despite the tragedy.
Jovan Belcher was only 25 years old. He was born and raised in West Babylon, NY on Long Island. He had played college ball at Maine. He was a free agent that was undrafted, but eventually moved into the starting lineup. It's just the saddest thing that they head coach and general manager were being Thanked by Belcher, and he was walking away after Thanking them, he point blank shot himself. Everyone on the team is taking it pretty hard but will get through the ordeal together as a team and a community.
