Closing Arguments in Blagojevich Trial

On Monday, attorneys in the Rod Blagojevich corruption trial will get a final chance to talk to the jurors in closing arguments. As a big surprise, the defense rested after prosecution finished it's case, without putting on a single witness.

According to sources close to the former governor, the decision was made in an attempt to prevent the government from bringing forth witnesses which the government intended to use in their rebuttal.

Chicago prominent criminal defense attorneys representing Blagojevich feel comfortable they can get their client an acquittal, based the the government's inability to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt.

As early as Tuesday, jury will be sent out to deliberate Blagojevich's fate. If convicted, Blagojevich will be the second Illinois governor, following George Ryan, to be sent to Federal prison.

In other related news, Illinois legislatures are contemplating changing Illinois slogan from, "Home of Lincoln" to "Our Governors Make Your License Plates."
