Most of you might have noticed those annoying cameras popping up at intersections throughout the country. What you should know about the cameras is that they are primarily designed to catch motorists that don't come to a complete stop when making a right turn. For the most part, if you entered the intersection and the light has turned red the camera will not be activated to record you running the red light. It's primary use is to take a motion picture of a motorist making a right turn on ted without fully stopping first.
Generally, the violations are prosecuted under a city oridinance and because of that very little due process is allowed.
Identity of the driver is not necessary to prove in order to obtain a conviction. So, even if your BFF is driving your car and taking that crucial right turn on red light without first coming to a complete stop the owner of the vehicle will be responsible for the ticket. Since this is only an ordinance violation, owners failure to pay will not result in a jailable offense, but will most likely lead to a negative mark on one's credit.
To make matters worse, many ordinances, will provide that if the red light violation is challenged and the determination is made against the person challenging it, the fine becomes more severe.
SO STOP AT THE RED LIGHT WHEN MAKING A RIGHT TURN AND PLEASE PROCEED WHEN INTO THE INTERSECTION TO COMPLETE YOUR TURN WHEN THE ROAD IS CLEAR.
