R & B pop singer from the 80's was arrested for drug possession and possession of narcotics with the intent to sell. El Debarge was most famous for being the front man for sibling singing group "De Barge." Their biggest hit was the 1985 release "Rhythm of the Night." Does anyone remember? Well, this hasn't been his first time offending the law, but hopefully it will be his last.
This whole deal happened in Los Angeles this week. As reported, El Debarge was picked up in Encino, CA after the Los Angeles Police Department officers observed him taking part in what looked to be a drug deal near the famous L.A. 101 freeway. The police may believe "he may" have been trying to deal drugs. So, they decided to arrest him for possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics with the intent to sell. It's his third arrest for drug possession in the past eleven years.
It quite clearly seems that after they checked his past history they just assumed the worst for De Barge. Mr. De Barge was arrested, booked and released on a $30,000 bond. He's due back in court next month.
El Debarge has definitely had his run ins with the law, and has most definitely struggled with drugs and addiction for most of his career. He canceled his 2011 tour a little over a year ago in order to enter a rehabilitation clinic. He was just coming around the bend for being eligible for two Grammy award nominations for his 2010 album, "Second Chance."
Is he going to get through this and make a change and another chance without doing time? We'll see.
